Top 3 Excuses You Can’t Lose Weight
Nowadays, there are a lot of overweight people. It used to be a small fraction of the population but obesity is growing at a staggering rate. The main reasons for this are so cliche but are true. Diet and exercise. Do you get sick of hearing these terms? I know I do but the reason why there are so many overweight people is poor diet and a lack of exercise.
I know that the majority of overweight people make excuses for their weight. Here are some of the most common excuses, do they sound familiar?
I am big boned
The truth be known your skeletal frame has nothing to do with carrying around a lot of extra baggage. Most that claim to be “big boned” have an average frame proportioned to their height.
I have a thyroid problem
There are some overweight people that do have a thyroid problem. The vast majority of people who claim that they have a thyroid condition and it is causing their problem are giving an easy answer and really saying that the can’t help themselves. Even people with moderate thyroid problems can keep their weight under control
with diet and exercise.
My weight Problem is Genetic
There are legitimate cases of this also. If one or both of your parents struggled with weight it might be genetic. The thing is though that most of these cases are nurture and not nature. The parents ate poorly and didn’t exercise. They raised their kids with a bad diet and lack of activity. I have known many families over the years that lived like this. Most of them called themselves “big boned” or blamed their genes.
With fast food becoming more popular and people using their leisure time to surf the net. play video games, watch TV etc. Obesity rates are reflecting the nation’s lifestyle choices. The answer to the problem is to change your lifestyle. Exercise moderately for at least 20 minutes, 3 times weekly. Eat well balanced meals from the four food groups and keep fried food, junk food and fast food to a minimum and that would solve the majority of the overweight cases.
Also monitor the labels on the food packages. It will reveal the benefits and the drawbacks to the food you are buying. Gym memberships can be relatively cheap now a days and working out at home can be really cheap. Diet and exercise = weight control in the majority of cases and it’s not expensive it’s usually much cheaper than
living a poor lifestyle of fast food and inactivity.
